PocketTweak

Warning: There is a very serious problem which occurs in the combination of PocketTweak 4.2.6 or lower and Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition Pocket PC. Please read here for the detail. Current download includes 4.2.7 which fixed the problem.

PocketTweak is a small program for Pocket PC to configure device settings without using any registry editors. That is, PocketTweak is a Pocket PC version of SmallTweak.

The following settings can be configured with the current version of PocketTweak:

• To associate Extensions with Applications.
• Device power off time.
• Window animation.
• Menu animation. (Pocket PC 2002 only) new!
• System fonts.
• Font cache size.
• Scrollbar settings.
• Software Input Panel settings.
• Card battery warning.
• Pocket IE to use Clear Type Text.
• Clear history for 'Address' of Explorer.

PocketTweak has the following advantages over modifying the registry directly:

1. Safe

   Modifying the registry incorrectly may cause the entire system to fail or crash, especially for inexperienced users. While PocketTweak does not have such risk.

2. Easy

   When using a registry editor, you must know in advance exactly how and where to make the changes. While PocketTweak uses an easy GUI, you do not have to know anything about the registry to tweak your device.

3. Convenient

   When tweaking under "Action" tab, all previous settings remain in the drop down list. Thus, you can easily go back to any former settings.

PocketTweak is a free software. License condition is written in a distributed file. Read the condition before using the PocketTweak.

Changing file associations

		You can change the application associated to the extension by entering your prefered application to the combo box (1). Press OK for the change to take effect. When you want to go back to the former application, you can do it very easily with the drop down list of the combo box (2). Press OK for the change to take effect.

		It is also very easy to add new extension. Suppose you are going to add ".csv" as a new extension for example, but the associated application is just the same as ".txt". Click "txt" on the extension list box, then press "New..." button to insert "csv" as new extension in the New Extension dialog box, then press OK button. (3). Press OK for the change to take effect. Creating/Editing File Types is also available via easy GUI (4). On the window, tapping icon image will refrect the change in the Icon edit box.

PocketTweak is compatible with tGetFile.dll. Please do not forget to install tGetFile.dll for easier assignment for application programs to file extensions in File Types dialog.

  • The Action page has renamed to File Type page and the GUI of the page has changed. The new GUI is much like the File Type page of Windows 2000 Explorer option.
